STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for coordinating the identification and investigation of potential PATIENT SAFETY incidents and facilitating QUALITY IMPROVEMENT efforts with the clinical workflows. The Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Specialist is also responsible for risk assessments and root cause analysis to reduce the potential for future incidents. The Specialist will have a collaborative role with the Patient Relations Specialist to investigate patient comments related to standards of care and/or process deviations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates degree in healthcare or a related field is required.
- Medical Assistant or equivalent certificate is preferred.
- Certified Professional of Patient Safety (CPPS) or ability to attain CPPS within 1 year of hire.
- Minimum of two years' work experience with considerable autonomy, self-direction, and leadership
- Computer literacy and word processing proficiency
