Job Description:
At Saab in West Lafayette, IN, you have the opportunity to join a team that will manufacture the rear section of the T-7A Redhawk military trainer aircraft for the United States Air Force. When at full capacity by 2027, Saab will employ over 250 employees in the West Lafayette facility in management, administration, and manufacturing. As Saab continues to expand their new operation in West Lafayette, IN, we are seeking a Quality Technician who provides support to internal customers related to product non-conformance identification, investigation, and disposition. This role performs functions associated with quality control and quality assurance operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks and carrying out quality assurance procedures related to production or operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to hands-on, cross-functional problem-solving in a wide range of Quality Engineering support activities
  • Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate data to assist in assessing and documenting results of quality assurance and control processes
  • Assist in developing methods and procedures for quality assurance and control
  • Manage production tools and measurement equipment to ensure appropriate tools are calibrated and available to production when needed
  • Maintain tool register and manage tool calibrations and repairs as needed
  • Be a focal point for internal and external calibrations, collaborating with suppliers for assigned measuring equipment, according to applicable measuring equipment register
  • Create a well-balanced schedule for steady and routine calibration management (as to avoid large waves of calibration work), managing non-conformity as needed
  • Extract and report metrology data for review
  • Prepare and calibrate measurement equipment and fixtures
  • Perform geometrical inspections of aircraft assemblies
  • Extract technical data and compile reports to provide feedback on inspection results
  • Develop deviation reports and represent quality at the Material Review Board as needed
  • Deliver high level of workmanship in inspection processes for structural assembly
  • Participate in Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Develop standardization for working procedures for high repeatability

  • Other tasks as assigned, including cross-training in other Quality functions

Compensation: Starting pay rate of $26/hr
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.
Skills and Experience:
  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Associate degree, technical/business school or equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years of qualified experience using geometrical measurement equipment is a plus
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric dimensioning & tolerance) and Certified Quality Tech is preferred
  • Experience within the aerospace industry is a strong plus
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work as high-performance team
  • Ability to interpret and revise relevant documentation, and read blueprints
  • Ability to work with standardized procedures for high repeatability in a highly advanced and connected environment
  • Ability to be self-driven and deliver high quality results across a global team
  • Must be self-mobile and able to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, bending, stooping, walking, climbing, reaching during a normal workday
  • Ability to work extended hours when required

Citizenship Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
