About this Position:

The Quality Engineer Tech Lead will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest level of quality in our products and services.  This role requires a deep understanding of automotive systems, exceptional problem solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams. The Tech Lead is responsible for leading efforts with all factories that produce for the domestic/export market to resolve market concerns. Evaluate complex factory recommended countermeasure and provide robust repair information to the field to repair customer vehicles.

Review and approve countermeasure software for market deployment.

Lead efforts in PST Market Quality Engineering to identify challenges and barriers to create prompt, high quality diagnosis and repairs performed by the Dealer's Automotive Technicians.

The Tech Lead will also be responsible for evaluating post bulletin repair effectiveness by reviewing data and going to the spot. Provide technical/dealership expertise to support current and improve future products to exceed customer's expectations, promote fixed first visit, ensure a positive ownership experience, and promote lifetime owner loyalty.

Responsibilities include:

       Lead and evaluate proposed countermeasure to determine the appropriate repair for the market. Ensure that each countermeasure is technically sound and can be implemented effectively. Develop repair instructions for the market (including Export/CCA (Caribbean and Central America) and conduct time study evaluations with the shop. Provide source materials to publications (Service News/Service Bulletins, Video etc). Advise appropriate market action.

       Review, provide necessary feedback, and approve the need for software release from SMC (Software Management Console). Review, provide necessary feedback, and approve software packages for OTA (Over The Air) and or wired ECU Reprogramming updates within SMC and SEM (Service Engineering Memo) to publications (OTA Release Notes, Service Bulletin, etc.). Collaborate with software development teams to ensure seamless integration.

       Lead dealer visits to observe and confirm repairs first-hand. Support service technicians by assessing the effectiveness of bulletins and technical communications, ensuring they provide clear guidance and technicians can perform the procedures as intended.

       Monitor post bulletin repair accuracy and or OTA/Wired Reprogramming post-delivery status. Identify and understand the root cause, then take action where needed. Promote Service-Related QIS when needed.

       Provide technical expertise to several groups outside of MQE (Market Quality Engineering) including Campaigns, ACS (Automobile Customer Service), PRO (Product Regulatory Office), HNA (Honda North America) Law, Product Development, Warranty, Publications, DPSM's (District Parts and Service Manager's), FTS's (Field Technical Specialist's), SPPC (Service Parts Procurement Center), Tech Line, Export Territory Manager (DPSM).

       Support efforts between factory MQ (Market Quality), ADC (Automobile Design Center), NAQC (North American Quality Center), TSD (Technical Service Division), and TAC (Technical Analysis Center) associates.

       Work with Tech Line on Export/CCA (Caribbean and Central America) market issues including eTAR (Electronic Technical Assistance Request)

       Support Quality Engineering Management at various meetings with GO ADC, factories, vendors, etc through utilization of market information, questioning investigation results and influencing the direction of service actions.

       Support activities related to FMC (Full Model Change), support Service University.

       Review, provide necessary feedback, and approve PDI Checklist, Maintenance Journal, PDI Bulletin, NAVI PDI Bulletin, Owner's Manual (New/FMC only), Personalized Settings Worksheet or any other market communication (P-Notes, USB software, service engineering memos, OTA release notes, service news articles, Tech Line summary articles, etc.)

       Review presentations for market concern items prior to monthly management review.

       Mentor Quality Engineer and Senior Quality Engineer by fostering a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence.

       Lead Special/Advanced Service Projects (KOQ, OTA, Prognostics, SRS AB)

 Required Work Experience:

        10 years or work experience with at least 1 year of experience working within an automobile manufacturer's service/engineering department

 Required Education:

       Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related major) and/or work experience.

Desired skills:

       Vehicle evaluation skills with strong emphasis on automotive system knowledge.

       Strong problem solving skills.

       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

       High proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, & Powerpoint)

       Technical knowledge of current system design standards with an understanding of future direction for vehicle system design

       Comprehensive engineering diagnostic skills in multiple areas / use of specialized engineering test equipment

    Competitive base salary $ 91,200 - $ 136,800
