The Quality Engineer provides factual and focus support to the Supply Chain organization in relation to the improvement and assurance of the quality of processes, products and services. This position is located in Gainesville, Georgia. It is not remote.
Main Tasks
Organizational tasks
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of the quality policy
  • Coordinating the agreement and application of quality-related methods and tools
  • The development, agreement, and organization of quality control plans with the aim of mitigating the risk of non-conformities in process
  • Communicating and explaining the quality system within the organization and outside the organization (i.e., to suppliers) when required
  • Motivating, encouraging, coaching, and influencing new behavioral patterns enhancing the quality culture within Marel

Operational tasks
  • Identifying, handling, and coordinating containment actions after articles have been produced either internally or externally that do not comply with the specifications
  • Coordinating and driving where needed the Root cause Analysis (Corrective and preventive action) for non-conforming processes, parts and machine failure
  • Initiates feed-back loop for internal lesson learned (L.L.) and follow up on service engineering reported fixes (external L.L.)
  • The definition, follow-up and follow through of action plans within the internal organisation with the target of reducing the cost of non-quality
  • Analyzing and interpreting data, and using the data to identify improvement opportunities and to formulate concrete improvement projects
  • Supervising and carrying out product and process audits (both internal and external)
  • Development and drawing up of reports, methods, and resource specifications in consultation with the Quality Manager
  • Development and agreement of rating and development systems, for both internal and external use, for the areas of organization, processes, and products
  • Management of data and databases in relation to quality
  • Monitoring the standard of the quality level, amongst other things by tracking trends, etc.

Continuous Improvement
  • Coordination, agreement, and drawing up of: problem definitions, cause analyses, containment, and corrective and preventative actions
  • Initiation of, and participation in and/or leading of improvement projects and initiatives
  • Initiation, agreement, and organization of improved working methods

  • Delivering results and meeting customer expectations; Sets high standards for quality and quantity; monitors and maintains quality and productivity; works in a systematic, methodical and orderly way; consistently achieves project goals

Education, Knowledge and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent vocational experience
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of products, processes, and logistical concepts in a technical production environment;
  • Masters Root Cause Analysis methods (8d/5Why's/4M etc.)
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma qualifications are preferred
  • Knowledge of logistical, production, and assembly processes
  • Excellent English skills, both written and verbal, as well as local language
  • Comfort with working in a multi-cultural, multi-discipline organization is an advantage
