Quality Control Technician

Shepard Bros., a premier family-owned manufacturer and supplier of specialty chemicals and services to a variety of industries in the Western U.S., is looking for an energetic and customer-focused, entry-level R&D Analytical Chemist at our La Habra facility.

$20 - $22 hourly

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform Quality Control testing on all raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
• Test incoming bulk raw materials and collect their certificate of analysis as required.
• Calculate and determine adjustments for in-process products.
• Assist with QC troubleshooting as needed.
• Keep complete and accurate Quality Control records via MS Excel.
• Keep accurate records using company software.
• Participate in R&D meetings.
• Create all Certificates of Analysis in AX for all blended products.
• Check batch sheets prior to production.
• Maintain the rotation of the retained samples and keep the cabinets in an organized manner.
• Housekeeping: dispose of retains, wash bottles, and glassware.
• Order laboratory and safety supplies as needed.
• Assist with lab production of small batches/ samples as required.
• Keep an accurate written record of all laboratory work performed.
• Assist in performing calculations for reworking obsolete product inventory.
• Maintain professional relationships with customers, co-workers, and management.

• Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
• Possess good organization skills and ability to prioritize work to meet time-sensitive deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Possess a high level of skill with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as percentage composition, units of measure, and product quantities.
• Ability to read and interpret job-related documents.
• Possess good written/oral communication skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
