GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring quality requirements are achieved for both delivered product and service provision.

DUTIES

  • Support the company's internal quality goals and objectives.
  • Conduct inspections of both completed and on-going modifications and aircraft maintenance activities.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable standards, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Documents inspections in accordance with contract requirements
  • Perform First Article Inspections, interpret drawings, schematics, and blueprints, be skilled in the use of precision measurement equipment, and knowledgeable in aviation and avionics terminology.
  • Operate and maintain fuel lower explosive level (LEL) monitors, borescopes, weight/balance scales, micrometer, various gages, and other related equipment.
  • Inspects, tests, or measures materials, products, installations, and work to verify conformance to specifications using standard mechanical measurement devices to include: Calipers, Ball Gauges, Radius Gauges, etc.
  • Inspects, tests, or measures materials, products, installations, and work to verify conformance to specifications using standard electrical measurement devices to include: multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.
  • Work closely with production leads and supervisors to recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Keeper of the standards, promotes safety practices and adherence to procedures notifies management of violations.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma
  • Twelve (12) years' experience in aircraft maintenance
  • Five (5) years progressive experience in Quality Assurance and Control.
  • Previously qualified as Quality Assurance Representative (QAR), or (CDQAR) preferred.
  • COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 knowledge and experience.
  • Expertise in inspection procedures and have experience working in AS9110 environments.
  • Able to understand and interpret requirements of Technical Orders 1-1A-1, 1-1A-8, 1-1B-40, 1-1A-14, and 1-1A-15.
  • Able to understand and interpret requirements of standards AS9110, DCMA 8210.1C-D
  • DoD/Military Technical Training desired.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products to create, modify and update work instructions, test and inspection documents, reports, charts, checklists and databases.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Secret Clearance

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, working at heights with fall protection devices.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds and carry for short distances.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
