SUMMARY
The Quality Control (QC) Lead coordinates QC Discipline activities to support the station. QC Discipline activities typically include surveillance, independent review and analysis, inspection, monitoring, assessment, material testing and auditing as applicable. The QC Lead assigns QC Discipline work and ensures QC Discipline qualifications and certifications are maintained. The QC Lead performs outage functions such as contract technical coordinator for outage contract personnel, pre-outage communication liaison, outage budget support, and outage schedule development. QC Lead activities also include oversight of QC Discipline personnel performing activities in accordance with NRC requirements, the STP operating license, and station expectations. Essential responsibilities are to lead the QC staff and perform QC Discipline activities as applicable, including staff training and development, as well as other activities as designated by the Quality management team.
EDUCATION
• High School/GED or equivalent (Required)
• Bachelor's degree in science or technical field. (Preferred)
• Associates degree in a related mechanical field (science, mathematics, technology, or equivalent). (Preferred)
• Completion of college level work leading to an Associate Degree or equivalent in a related discipline from a Trade/Vocational/Technical School (Preferred)
• In lieu of the above preferred requirements, relevant experience will be considered.
EXPERIENCE
• 8 Years + experience in the nuclear industry in Quality Control or Maintenance. (Required)
LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
• QC multi discipline Level II or III (ANSI N45.2.6) Mechanical, Electrical and/or I&C certified/certifiable (Preferred)
• QC Level II or III (ANSI N45.2.6) Receipt Inspection certified/certifiable (Preferred)
• QC multi discipline Level II or III (ANSI N45.2.6) Testing certified/certifiable (Preferred)
• Quality Lead Auditor (ANSI N45.2.23) certified/certifiable (Preferred)
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
QC LEAD - QUALITY CONTROL:
Assigns Quality inspectors and testing personnel to perform QC discipline activities in support of maintenance and modification activities at the station. Ensures proper QC staff credentialing and oversees credentialing of QC contract employees.
• Develops, participates on and maintains the Quality Call-Out Schedule to ensure weekend and night shift Quality Inspection coverage.
• Annually, reviews Quality inspection and testing certification as applicable to ensure they are maintained current.
• Performs QC Discipline Level II and/or III responsibilities, as applicable.
• Ensures Contract Quality inspection personnel are properly certified to perform assigned work.
• Performs Contract Technical Coordinator duties associated with Quality Inspection contractors, including working with vendors to identify contractor support and ensuring a purchase order exists to support contractor procurement.
• Ensures contractors perform required training; conducts performance evaluation of contractors; and ensures contractor certifications support contract needs.
QUALITY INSPECTION/MONITORING ACTIVITIES & REPORTS:
Reviews, monitors, and maintains quality inspection plans and related reports in support of plant maintenance and modification activities at the station.
• Reviews Quality Inspections and monitoring reports as applicable; reviews Corrective Action Program Database to identify potential problem areas and adverse trends in Supply Chain and/or Maintenance and Work Control.
• Reviews completed Quality Inspection Reports and Monitoring Reports as applicable in the PR&ID to ensure they meet expectations and requirements, are corrected if required, and unsatisfactory results are properly documented and resolved.
• Assigns and Approve Quality Inspection Reports and Monitoring Reports as applicable.
• Maintains Quality Inspection Plans up to date.
TEMPORARY SUPERVISOR:
• Stands in as a Temporary Supervisor as requested by division management. This will be done in accordance with the bargaining unit agreement.
• Accepts and follows established work rules, codes, and standards.
• Delivers steady performance and supports the station as applicable.
• Distributes work packages and supervises work as needed. Performs administrative functions and provides peer oversight.
• Interfaces well with fellow workers, supervisors, and other station personnel.
QUALITY OUTAGE SUPPORT:
Assists the Quality management team in development of the QC quality plan, budget, schedule, and communications for outage support as applicable.
• Works with Quality management team to develop the Quality Outage QC Schedule to support outage oversight activities.
• Assists the Quality management team in development of the QC Quality Budget for outage support.
• Develops the Quality Refueling Outage QC Plan for Quality management team approval.
• Performs as QC Pre-Outage Communication Liaison to ensure adequate Quality support for scheduled Refueling Outages.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs duties as the Supply Chain and/or Maintenance/Work Control Functional Area Owner and/or Audit Team Leader as applicable.
• Participates on or leads Quality Audits as applicable.
• Support industry initiatives (i.e., NIEP, INPO, ASME, ANSE, NUPIC, NEI, NQML, EPRI) as applicable and/or designated by the Quality management team
• Ensures housekeeping areas are maintained and meet expectations (i.e., work areas, storage sheds, cabinets, and shop work areas).
• Performs other assigned duties as specified by the Quality management team.
• Receives and comprehends general and specialized training; is accountable for maintaining all earned certifications; provides training and evaluates job performance to certify others.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Overtime and alternate work schedules as needed.
• Subject to callouts twenty-four hours per day seven days per week.
• Normal office and plant environment.
• Travel may be required.
