Job Summary:

Inspector’s primary function is to inspect the quality of the final product, materials, workmanship, and clear all homes of any defects and make sure the home is clean. This will be the final inspection before the home ships to the consumer.

Quality Control Inspector performs continuous quality inspections of materials, parts, assemblies, systems, equipment, and/or components used in the manufacture of the Company’s modular structures using defined and approved written procedures, checklists, and where appropriate the proper use of testing equipment to assure compliance to International Construction Codes adopted by each state, the Company’s Quality Control Manual(s), construction specifications, drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and other related construction documents, which may be signed and sealed by certified individuals such as Architects, Engineers, Third Parties and/or State review agencies. Track, record, report and follow up on acceptable and deviated or deficient work. Maintain control over all quality assurance documents

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – include but are not limited to the following:

  • Accurately document all rejected non-conforming or damaged work. Follow up on corrective actions to bring non-compliant work into approved acceptable levels of quality and safety.
  • Conduct continuous detailed quality inspections of materials, assemblies, sub-assemblies, structural steel, and all aspects of the building construction process in compliance with state-mandated regulations and the Company’s QA program, to the approved project-specific specifications and approved working documents; record and report results to the Company and other Authorities as required.
  • Create and maintain photo and/or video journals of a project’s construction progress
  • Create data plates for all projects as needed. File and report.
  • Perform detailed inspections, o all MEP, and structural aspects of the build to workmanship standards and applicable building codes.  
  • Inspect buildings for weather tightness; report weather-protection deficiencies to Quality Manager
  • Maintain the control of all state or IPIA-approved documents; create and maintain electronic Quality Control data files for each project.
  • Monitor and maintain testing equipment and instrumentation
  • Offer suggestions to streamline quality inspections within the company
  • Verify serial numbers to the project; the document required state and third-party seals.

  • Maintain all business relationships with outside firms and personnel in an effort to maintain relations for future work; maintain a positive attitude with clients, sub-trades, and staff.
  • Inspect buildings for weather tightness; report weather-protection deficiencies to Plant Manager
  • Be able to recognize deficiencies in construction/electrical/plumbing/mechanical based on blueprints and specs
  • Able to work in and around a construction site in a factory-type setting
  • Complete inspection reports and conduct QC tests and audits
  • Interact with sub-trades, third-party inspectors, and government agencies

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Solid understanding of test equipment
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of inspection and/or production experience
  • Strong working knowledge of various mathematical concepts including fractions, ratios, and proportions
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking around the warehouse
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
