Job Description
We are seeking a QC Chemist to sit at our La Verne, CA site. The candidate will perform release and stability testing on drug product for product quality assays including but not limited to SEC (Size exclusion chromatography), icIEF (imaged capillary isoelectric focusing), CE-SDS (capillary electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate), Peptide Map, Excipient (Polysorbate 80/20). Additionally, candidate will work with electronic laboratory systems such as LIMS, ELN, LES, and EMPOWER and troubleshoot instrumentation and test methods within QC jurisdiction, as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Conduct data review of testing to ensure compliance to appropriate specifications and protocols for in-house and contract laboratories
  • Support Quality Control functions and lab management
  • Support deviations, investigations, and CAPAs, particularly in relation to laboratory testing and OOS results
  • The applicant should be an effective communicator of ideas, project goals, and results to team members across cross-functional roles/departments
  • Conducts procedure updates in QC lab and GMP reviews of logbooks
  • Coordinates waste management, LEAN and 5S efforts as required.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated and organized

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, GLPs, pharmacopoeial, and regulatory requirements for testing and validation pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry is required.
  • Experience performing analysis testing in a GMP Laboratory
  • Understanding of USP/BP/JP and EP pharmacopoeias and the change process.
  • Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC), ProteinSimple Maurice, and Beckman PA800 plus CE
  • Possess and implements strong project management skills
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Education & Experience:
  • 4+ years of relevant experience and a BS degree in Chemistry or Microbiology or equivalent.
  • 2 + years of relevant experience and a MS.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
  • Biologics experience is strongly preferred

The salary range for this position is: $88,145.00 - $114,070.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
