Purpose & Scope
DuPont Advanced Cleans Technologies, a strategic business in the Electronics and Industrials segment, is on a growth journey at the Hayward, California site. We are looking for a skilled method development chemist for the Quality Control department.
The Hayward ACT plant produces an array of formulations used in several different steps of manufacturing semiconductors globally. New applications in Advanced Nodes and major customer expansions will bring new problems to solve in manufacturing as the site commissions new equipment and scales new products over the coming years.
The Quality Control Chemist will be responsible not only for running test equipment, but also analyzing the results and performing necessary experiments in the laboratory environments. By working with the QC lab technicians and other QC staff, the successful candidate will help to ensure consistently high quality of our materials, to ensure smooth, seamless supply to our customers. As QC requirements change, the chemist will also work to strengthen our testing capability and methods for incoming raw materials and finished products. Conducting Gage R&R and other Measurement Systems Analyses (MSAs) is a required skill.
The QC Chemist will be expected to interact fully with R&D Development Engineers, Product Quality Engineers, and Manufacturing Technology Engineers and be a strong asset during troubleshooting exercises in case of material quality or supply upsets. The role is expected to collaborate as part of a global team, including leveraged analytical science labs at other DuPont sites.
Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the quality requirements for ISO9001:2015 and other quality standards are implemented and maintained.
  • Select and utilize proper analytical techniques (for wet chemistry and especially in chromatography - LC, GC, IC, HPLC). Support improvement for both incoming and outbound Quality Control inspections linked to customer KPI's and Quality Goals.
  • Incorporate and uses statistical analysis of property data to assesses the capability to meet customer specifications and expectations (SQC, SPC) to solve complex technical problems.
  • Develop, validate, and document new analytical methods.
  • Lead and/or participate in multifunctional teams for investigation of internal and external (customer complaints) quality non-conformances and determine appropriate corrective action by coordinating team using tools such as 5 Why, FMEA's, Root Cause Analysis, etc. and ensure actions are effective.
  • Communicate results effectively to stakeholders and other interested parties.
  • Fulfill all requirements of group, site, and company safety, ethics and quality programs.
  • Support quality training, as needed, for new and existing employees.
  • Effectively balance workloads to meet business priorities while functioning in a multi-project environment.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. in Analytical Chemistry of other science degree
  • Experience with a wide range of analytical techniques, including but not limited to HPLC, GC, LC, IC, using a variety of detectors where appropriate.
  • Preferred experience working in the semiconductor or chemical field.
  • Proficient in statistical software (JMP) and use of Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to understand the quality standard relevant to the industry requirements (i.e. ISO 9001:2015) and the controls necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with the standards as appropriate.
  • Problem solving skills and exposure to quality tools (ex. SPC, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, FMEA)
  • Delivers clear and succinct oral and written messages and able to make complex messages clear both internally and to our global customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills as to drive quality improvements. Required competencies: bias for action, integrity, judgement, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, solid time management skills, effective communication, and teamwork.
