Job description

The Role

The Bioassay Quality Control Associate 1 will be responsible for GMP release testing of products produced at Modernas GMP manufacturing facility and affiliated contract organizations. This position will have a focus on Molecular and Cell Biology, including Sequencing, qPCR, and electrophoresis.

This position is for 1st shift Tuesday to Friday. Weekend work may be required.

Heres What Youll Do

  • Support testing for raw materials, drug substance, drug product, and cell lines.

  • Support revision of SOPs.

  • Perform general laboratory support activities including reagent preparation, equipment maintenance, etc.

  • Assist in laboratory housekeeping.

  • Establish and maintain a safe laboratory working environment.

  • Accept, complete, and report on assignments within the agreed upon timeframe.

  • Work with the Quality Control management team to continuously improve the quality, compliance, and efficiency of QC operations.

  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Heres What Youll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

  • BA or BS degree in Biochemistry or relevant scientific discipline

  • 0-2 years of direct experience in QC Molecular testing and Cell Biology (e.g. qPCR, sequencing, potency, mammalian and bacterial cell culture)

Heres What Youll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Ability to prepare reagents, pipette small volumes, work in a Biological Safety Cabinet

  • Experience with lab equipment/instruments such as Microplate Readers, Gel Imagers, Sequencers, and PCR systems.

  • Experience with mammalian and microbial cell culture.

  • Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Smart Sheet

  • Familiarity with electronic databases (e.g. LIMS, SAP, LMS)

  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under established guidelines and instructions.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment.

  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and complete multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Modernas site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.
