Job Overview:
The Quality clerk position receives, inspects and records incoming shipments of raw material and products. Evaluates design documentation, inspects completed products, Identifies errors and initiate resolution.
Responsibilities:
- Receive shipments and sign paperwork upon receipt.
- Unload packages from incoming trucks.
- Inspect contents to ensure they are undamaged.
- Verify packages according to purchase order and invoices.
- Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department lead.
- Label deliveries and allocate them to their designated place.
- Maintain accurate records and assist in inventory control.
- Must be able to identify and report nonconforming material.
- Use inspection planning tools and perform a product inspection.
- Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work if needed.
- Must know basic quality terms, definitions and concepts.
- Must understand types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scales.
- Must know the difference between accuracy and precision and be able to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques.
- Be able to read and interpret drawings/designs
- Use inspection planning tools and perform a product inspection.
- Required to make pick-ups and deliveries to our suppliers/customers for parts and raw materials using a company truck.
- Operates lift trucks or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas.
- Operates crimp tools, including diagnosis, repair and processing.
- Operates the stretch wrap banders.
- Operates foam packing machine.
- Familiarity with building pallets and crates (preferred)
- Performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- May require to assist with driving services for company pickups and deliveries as needed.
Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Team player mentality is a must
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to analyze information and solve problems
- Knowledge of CGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards
- Familiarity with quality management systems, ISO9001
- Experience with quality control tools, such as micrometers and calipers
- Understanding of quality assurance processes
Education and Experience:
- One year of quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.
- One year of factory-related experience in shipping and receiving (preferred).
- Ability to read and write, follow verbal instructions and use simple math.
- A valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Trained in forklift truck operation.
- Must have a clean driving record and a class C California Drivers License.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
