Job Summary
Better Being is looking for a Quality Certification Analyst to review raw material supplier documentation for specific requirements based on company specifications and to find and extract pertinent information associated with chemical, physical and biological risks. The Quality Certification Analyst will report to the Operations Director - Quality.
Essential Functions
  • Performs hazard analysis reviews of individual ingredients for food safety requirements.
  • Assess and adjust material specification to ensure alignment with company specifications.
  • Determine testing requirements and limits for specifications of newly sourced raw materials.
  • Contact suppliers to obtain supportive documentation such as third party certification, MSDS, specification sheets, process flow charts, and nutritional analysis.
  • Researches public databases and website listings for product and/or supplier health risks and violations.
  • Assist with review and release activities associated with raw materials and co-pack products.
  • Responsible for performing activities in support of quality control, which may include audit/walk through support, AQL assessment, food safety document review and approval, Kosher and organic certificate review and approval, MSDS and nutritional analysis review and approval, and Halal certificate review and approval for raw material lot testing.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy and GMP compliance in documents that are being reviewed.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Support of and involvement in company, department, and/or safety policies, procedures, programs and activities.
  • Maintenance of a clean and orderly work area.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science or other related science field preferred.
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) preferred, experience and/or training with food safety regulations.
  • Working knowledge of FSMA, HACCP, process and ingredient analysis.
  • Preferred experience with government food safety inspections and/or third party certification audits.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Solid computer skills - Excel, Word, Outlook, and basic MRP system.
  • Ability to self-direct, handling projects and research with limited oversight and support.
  • Self-motivated, works well independently and detail-oriented.
  • Acts with integrity, is transparent and respectful in all relationships.

Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • The employee must exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, an/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision and field of vision.
  • May be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals/materials common in a laboratory environment.
