Basic Job Purpose:
The Quality Business Unit Leader is responsible for assigned programs & product lines, and directly manages other quality team members. The Leader plans and directs activities related to the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials and products.
Assignment of Functions or Duties:
Oversee day-to-day quality engineering operations, with regards to their respective product lines, including task assignments, productivity, quality issues and production support to meet delivery schedule and achieve customer satisfaction.- Direct leadership for a team of quality engineers and other roles as assigned.
- Approve weekly payroll and leave time requests (vacation, sick).
- Develop goals and objectives. Evaluates direct report performance in regular reviews.
- Ensure team effectively interfaces with customers, suppliers, and internal ArmorWorks functions to identify and resolve quality related issues.
- Function as Quality Subject Matter Expert for all assigned programs/product lines.
- Providesl eadership and training to all employees, as applicable.
- Participate or lead internal process and/or process audits in support of the Quality Management System.
- Provid training to other functions on quality assurance concepts and tools.
- Fosters use of the corrective action process and works to implement permanent corrective action to prevent the recurrence of discrepancies.
- Serves as the primary Quality interface with the Business Unit’s customers.
Bachelor of Science degree with at least ten years of Quality Assurance experience with five of those in a management role.- A background in one or more of the following areas: metal fabrication, welding, machining, composite manufacturing, and assembly is preferred.
- Results oriented individual who can take initiative to maintain program momentum.
- Working knowledge of formal quality tools (Ishikawa Diagram, Control Charts, Multi-legged 5-Why’s, 8D, Root Cause/Corrective Action, 6-σ, etc.).
- Ability to read and properly interpret drawings/specifications.
- Hands-on inspection experience would be beneficial along with a comprehension of GD&T applications.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, CAD, QA Software, and Microsoft Office applications is a technical differentiator.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with an ability to correlate statistical data to process, product and material properties.
- Ability to employ statistical analysis such as hypothesis testing, capability analysis, reliability & confidence calculations, and failure rate estimation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work efficiently in a team environment.
- Thorough knowledge of ISO 9001:2015/AS9100D, AS9102 FAIs, AIAG and PPAPs. ASQ certification is a plus.
- MBA preferred.
