Agency Overview:

A&F IT Support is a unit under the Executive Office of Administration and Finance and is overseen by the A&F IT Secretariat Chief Information Officer (A&F CIO).  A&F IT supports 15 A&F agencies to ensure their IT operations are running effectively and efficiently.

Position Summary:

A&F IT Support is seeking a motivated and experiencedQuality Assurance Tester to join our Enterprise Services Development team.  In this role, you'll be responsible for the design and develop of test plans for user requirements and conducting technical and usability verification and validation for new and existing web applications, both internal and external facing.

This position requires that the candidate be experienced in software testing methodologies, technical concepts and principles, and specifications, as well as a understanding of the software development life cycle. Proficiency in working with SQL Server and Oracle databases, writing SQL queries, and experience in testing solutions developed on the Microsoft Power Platform is essential. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate both independently and within a project team to design, develop and deliver test plans for new and existing functionality.
  • Write and execute clear, concise, and comprehensive use cases and test plans.
  • Continuously design and execute regression test plans in response to frequent and rapid changes.
  • Generate and analyze data for tests, triage defects to draw conclusions, define issues and provide appropriate recommendations.
  • Perform thorough requirement analysis to establish and define application use cases and test plans.
  • Provide Quality Assurance analysis for .NET applications.
  • Provide timely production support on all A&F-IT applications, as needed.
  • Act as a dependable source of early feedback on new functionality and feature changes.
  • Stay up to date with assigned tasks and provide regular progress reports.
  • Adhere to department and bureau administrative and customer service policies. 
  • Undertake additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned by management, to support the completion of special and/or ongoing projects within the division.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.      
  • Ability to communicate with technical and business resources at many levels in a manner that supports progress and success.
  • Ability to understand, appreciate and adapt to new business cultures and ways of working.
  • Demonstrates initiative and works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in design and technical requirements documentation.
  • Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced changing environment and managing changing priorities.
  • Competency in working with Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to stay abreast of technological changes.

This position is assigned to A&F IT's Information Resource Bureau, located at 200 Arlington Street, Chelsea, Massachusetts.  This individual will work on site and remotely (as approved by their supervisor).

An external candidate recommended for a position with the Executive Office for Administration and Finance IT will be subject to a background check that includes checks for: state and federal tax compliance; child support compliance; education verification; Massachusetts CORI checks; criminal background checks in state(s) of current and previous residence/employment; validation of eligibility to work in the United States; and national fingerprint-based criminal background checks.

Minimum Entrance Requirements: 
Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience in electronic data processing of which (B) at least two years must have been in work in which the major duties included computer systems analysis, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
I. An Associate's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.*
II. A Bachelor's degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*
III. A Graduate degree with a major in the field of data processing or computer and/or information science may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.*
IV. A diploma for completion of a two year full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized non-degree granting business or vocational/technical school above the high school level with a major in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.* 
V. An official transcript from a recognized business or vocational/ technical school as evidence of completion of a program consisting of at least 650 hours of instruction in the field of computer programming may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
VI. Graduation from the data processing course of a recognized vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
*Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE: No substitution will be allowed for more than two years of the required (A) experience.
NOTE: No substitution will be allowed for the two years of the required (B) experience.
