Job Description
Summary/objective
The candidate will be responsible for driving accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of the Food Safety and Quality Systems in accordance with the regulatory and SQF (Safe Quality Foods) Code.
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for performing the activities that ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.

Competencies
- Ability to recognize and report non-compliance situations with GMP and HACCP protocols. This person will have the ability to articulate and record those findings in a clear and concise manner.
- Communicate any quality, food safety, or documentation issues to management so corrective and preventative action are implemented with proper disposition.
Provide support for production employees to ensure that quality testing procedures are correctly accomplished.
Execute visual sanitation inspections, ATP swabs, allergen swab and analyze trends when necessary.
Responsible for visually inspecting finished product to verify quality standards are met based on product specifications.
Support incoming material evaluation procedures (i.e., Leaf to stem, Raw Material testing, quality check procedures, etc.).
Audit and review production and quality forms for completeness and observe errors and deviations; HACCP training required to perform this function.
Perform and document laboratory analysis (i.e., Moisture analysis, color readings, water activity, etc.) within Excel or ERP System (DAX).
Support the Kosher program, including assisting the Rabbi with lot specific certificates.
Ability to complete all required line testing to audit acceptability (i.e., Quality Checks, Sieve Analysis, Chlorine Levels, pH, etc.)
Maintains proper control and filing of paperwork.
Print production labels accurately and timely.
Understand COA and sampling protocol, including lab analysis, and corresponding documentation.
Perform verification audits (i.e., HACCP, GMP, Glass, Internal Systems Audits etc.) in a timely manner.
Responsible for calibration of laboratory and testing equipment (i.e., pH meter, ORP meters, thermometers, etc.)
Facilitate environmental swabbing/sampling requirements.
Organize and maintain finished product retains (including purchased products).
Review and provide response on all incoming COAs for ingredients.
Provide support for Food Safety and Quality Manager as needed or requested.

Work environment
- The work environment described are representative of those an employee will typically encounter while performing the functions of the job, standing, walking, climbing stairs, cold environments, sitting and data entry. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

- This is a facility-based responsibility. This is not a remote position.
- Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.)
- While performing the functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; and occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Required education and experience
- High school, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area, E.G., data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc., plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Basic to intermediate oral and written communication skills.
Preferred education and experience
- HACCP Certified
Additional eligibility requirements
- Basic to intermediate knowledge in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and related MS Office Programs.
