GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Quality Assurance Technician inspects Sunshine Minting products to ensure conformance to internal and external customer requirements through measurement, visual inspection, and documentation.
QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform daily instrument checks
  • Maintain paper and electronic instrument logs
  • Read and accurately interpret production process paperwork
  • Select random product samples for inspection per sampling plan
  • Measure attributes of products using scales, calipers, micrometers, hardness testing and surface testing instruments
  • Determine product conformance using various lab instruments
  • Determine visual quality conformance using guidelines and physical samples
  • Accurately document findings into SMI Quality Assurance inspection records
  • Effectively communicate non-conformance issues to production and quality management
  • Understands use of Email, Microsoft Excel and Word and use of multiple file formats
  • All other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Some College is preferred
  • Minimum of one year of related work experience in a lab environment is preferred

  • Able to work weekends, rotating schedules and overtime as needed

  • Able to inspect and test production lots in a timely manner
  • Able to properly use various testing instruments
  • Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient in typing, computer, and math skills
  • Ability to communicate with all departments, co-workers, and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Must be bondable.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, or kneel. The employee is continuously required to use hands and arms to reach, finger, handle, or feel objects and controls. The employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear.
The employee must regularly lift up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIROMENT:
The work environment is clean with moderate to hot temperature and moderate noise level, eye and hearing protection is required while working on the manufacturing floor. Exam gloves must be worn and changed frequently throughout the day while working with products.
