The Quality Assurance Technician performs quality control checks on materials and products during the production cycle to ensure items meet quality standards and safety regulations. The Quality Assurance Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.

The Quality Assurance Technician performs quality control checks on materials and products during the production cycle to ensure items meet quality standards and safety regulations. The Quality Assurance Technician reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Check raw materials or components involved in the production process to ensure they are of suitable quality.
- Perform inspections real-time on coffee, single-serve cups, bags, and other types of packaging to ensure every product is produced within required parameters.
- Ensure all products meet specification requirements and follow HARPC and Global Food Safety guidelines to ensure the finished product meets food safety and quality requirements.
- Perform quality checks (color, % moisture, density, grind analysis, weights, packaging date codes, packaging integrity, brewing performance, etc.) on product startups and on an ongoing basis during production.
- Input accurate results from testing into a quality database and complete all required documentation of laboratory samples and testing results.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming goods for proper disposition and notify QA Supervisor or QA Specialist.
- Visually inspect returned goods delivered by warehouse and, if required, perform analysis on goods and record results.
- Conduct relevant testing of products on hold and rework/reclaim coffee.
- Assist with the investigation of customer complaints.
- Perform general daily housekeeping in the work area to maintain a quality/safe working environment.
- Collect, organize, and set up product samples for sensory evaluation.
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment such as moisture analyzers, scales, brewers, thermometers, pH meters, etc.
- Follow all policies, procedures, standards, safety and GMP requirements.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Qualification
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in a program such as quality technology.
- 1-2 years Quality Assurance or manufacturing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience and knowledge with computer-based quality management and tracking systems, including Microsoft Office and Office-based database systems.
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Sound math skills e.g. Percent Calculations, averages, means, Standard deviation etc.
- Ability to understand department documents and make appropriate corrections.
- Ability to follow a schedule, as well as verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate comfortably and work with co-workers in a team environment
- Ability to display sound logic and attention to detail.
- Respond quickly to information requests from internal and external customers
