Quality Assurance Team Leader (Port)

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Food Safety and Quality Assurance at the port level.

Accountabilities:

• Perform/oversee/coordinate quality inspections, and product temperature checks, for all products arriving to the port.
• Help to generate and distribute quality reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Maintain open communication with all Managers, Corporate Quality Assurance, and Sales Department to ensure that finished product quality processes are maintained at all times.
• Work with the Shipping Department to separate product and coordinate shipping.
• Perform/oversee daily re-inspections of warehouse products.
• Monitor and ensure proper rotation and shipment of all warehouse products.
• Update Food Safety documents in preparation for the annual audit.
• Provide customer service, including visits to customer warehouses and/or stores.
• Maintain compliance with company and customer finished product specifications and special handling procedures.
• Assist Quality Assurance Manager in performing internal, regulatory agency facility, and operational audits.
• Evaluate trials and elaborate the reports.
• Perform periodic, daily walkthrough of the facility to ensure that all quality and food safety standards are being complied with, and submit corrective action request as needed to perspective departments.

Minimum Skills Required:

• Four year college degree plus 2-3 years industry experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Good communication skills (i.e. written and verbal).
• Ability to multi-task.
• Ability to lift 40lb boxes of produce and being exposed to cold environments (~38F).
• Ability to travel if needed.
• Experience in collecting and analyzing data
• Excellent analytical skills

Preferred:

• Deep knowledge of the Quality Industry with corresponding certifications.
• Experience in quality systems analysis, spreadsheet modeling and compilation of large data sets;
• Bilingual in Spanish would also be a plus
