About the role:
WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a Quality Assurance Coordinator to join our team in Duluth, GA. This role supports the Service Department by developing and coordinating quality action plans (e.g. containment, corrective, verification and preventive action plans) and processes to solve problems by addressing them at the root cause. This position is both clerical and hands-on requiring mechanical knowledge and excellent communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate and execute cost effective quality action plans for material in stock.
- Schedule and perform teardown inspections on products returned from the field and from stock reporting the findings and results to the manufacturing plants for continuous improvement.
- Operate independently with limited supervision and be able to travel to each WEG Warehouse (domestic or occassionally international) as needed.
- Carry out movements and the blocking/unblocking of material in stock using inventory management tools in SAP.
- Submit internal rejections and additional costs to the manufacturing plants for proper reimbursement.
- Quote and proposes necessary tools and services needed to perform the inspections and complete quality actions.
- Conduct training of third party temporary workers when hired to support containment actions and inspections.
- Record all inspections performed by the Quality team or temporary labor hired to support the activities.
- Record and updates quality processes and standards.
- Recommend measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of services and the products.
- Complete and reviews 8D corrective action reports and develops and schedules tests to ensure the efficacy of the actions and dates committed to in the reports.
- Complete processes both in SAP and physically to scrap or repair material in stock.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Education:
- High School or GED. Associates degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Statistics preferred.
Knowledge / training:
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Extensive knowledge of SAP.
- Develop and coordinate actions plans and quality processes using Pareto graphs, 4D/8D reports and standardization.
- Defining and solving problems using quality tools and methodologies including Ishikawa diagrams, 5 Whys, 5W2H,
- PDCA, and DMAIC.
- Reading mechanical drawings of electric motors and parts.
- Reading electrical wiring diagrams of electric motors.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Industrial standards: NEMA MG-1, IEEE841, UL.
- VFD and soft starters principles.
- Vibration CAT I training.
- Six Sigma - Yellow Belt.
- 5S, Safety.
- Motor Electrical testing.
- Mechanical measurement system knowledge.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in a role inspecting and repairing electric motors and alternators.
3+ years of experience in a role using basic quality techniques to ensure products and processes meet quality standards.
