- Responsible for the quality control aspects of raw materials and finished products
- Meet with other supervisors and inspect facilities for compliance with standards, determining methods to resolve any issues that arise.
- Prepares reports on each test preformed for measuring quality, quantity and composition
- Computes formulas, percentages or production specific factors using chemical and mathematical procedures
- Assist in setting quality standards and ensure that production is maintained at such standards
- Sample and identify, if any, bacterial or non-desirable excess material
- Prepare graphs, charts and reports from test results
- Responsible for maintaining the long-term continuity of production and service quality
- Prepare reports on food quality status to relay to upper-level management
- Review customer feedback and respond to any complaints.
- Completes tests required for food product
- Keep records of all tests that have been carried out
- Perform quality control analysis including tests and inspections of products and processes
- Maintain the corporate quality manual and quality records
- Review and report the principle causes of quality loss and non-conformance
- Ensure all check sheets are correctly completed and all non-compliance found have had the correct action taken and signed off
- Arrange, coordinate and participate in external quality audits
Competencies
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in a lab setting with emphasis in the sugar or food and beverage industry preferred
- Ability to use a computer and navigate an ERP system (Microsoft Navision or Business Central preferred)
- Knowledgeable about all food safety standards that are customary within the food industry and mandated by government regulations. Common standards managers are expected to be familiar with include the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) management system required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the standards set by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI).
- Technical skills in testing and using lab equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing (email)

Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing and plant environment. This role requires sitting at computer for periods of time and a periodic floor presence.
Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds when moving pails or samples of product for testing.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Travel
No overnight travel is expected for this position. Some travel between facilities may be required. Access to a vehicle is preferred.
