We are looking for a Quality Assurance Assistant Inspector to join the City of Charleston's Stormwater Department! In this role you will assist with the inspection of maintenance and condition of storm water systems, using a variety of machines, tools, and equipment.
- Ensures all work is done in in accordance with approved plans and departmental engineering standards.
- Assists with the evaluation of maintenance per established standards; makes daily inspections of work in progress at various worksites, and makes necessary recommendations for schedule modifications.
- Evaluates data and writes regular reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards, including daily inspection reports.
- Assists with the recommendations for modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Maintains all equipment and tools in good working condition, and determines appropriate and equipment to be used in work areas.
- Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of output.
- Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of work crew.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
- Assists with the operation of the crawler camera and other types of inspection equipment to ensure proper maintenance and identify problems in the Storm Drain Infrastructure.
- Performs activities as needed to assist the Quality Assurance Technician with recording of data, placement of camera equipment, and preparing reports for work assessed in the field.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to be trained in the operation of camera equipment and utilize the equipment properly within 180 days of hire.
- Valid Driver's License.
- High School diploma and 6 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with pole/crawler cameras for pipe inspection
