This position has a critical role in the process by providing surveillance of the plant QA system through testing, inspection, and monitoring daily production activities to verify compliance. They inspect/test incoming raw material and other components used to produce pressure pipe to ensure the materials meet requirements, perform calibration of QA equipment, and maintain QA records.
Knowledge and Skills
- Operation and adjustment knowledge of all batching related equipment for concrete production.
- Ability to read and understand production drawings and engineered prints.
- Verbal and written communication skills understandable by the crew and plant supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical malfunctions and make adjustments and/or basic repairs to equipment to produce concrete that meets specifications.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply information from manuals, equipment drawings and Plant Managers instruction for equipment operation and maintenance.
- Mathematical ability to calculate mixing proportions and quantities required for filling molds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Certified as a Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent, or work experience.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in quality control
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
- Advanced problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to obtain cooperation and influence others to work toward a common goal.
- Must be comfortable working outdoors
