Laboratory Technician - Monaca, PA
Where the Chemistry Happens
We are seeking an individual who can perform these primary responsibilities but not limited to:
- Using a variety of testing equipment including GCs, HPLC, FTIR, Spectrophotometers, Viscometers, Ovens, balances, pH meters, Microscopy, LIMS & SAP data systems.
- Conducting analytical testing on emulsion polymerization products and plant wastewater in support of In-Process and Finished Goods 24/7 ISO 9001 manufacturing operations.
- Evaluating data versus internal and external specifications
- Evaluating incoming Raw Materials
- Performing bacteria testing
- Interacting with the Supply Chain and Operations departments at the Monaca site to expedite shipments to customers utilizing SAP
- Contributing and adhering to Safety, Environmental, Quality and EEO/AA standards of the Corporation, Division and Site
- Willing and available to work rotating shifts and overtime, when required
Qualifications - External
Formula for Success
- Associates degree in Biology or Chemistry or 2 year Technical degree in Analytical Testing with a minimum 6 months of industrial experience in an QA/QC or R&D or Analytical or Environmental laboratory environment OR High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of relevant industrial lab experience in either a QA/QC or R&D or Analytical or Environmental Laboratory required.
- Ability to operate various computer-controlled instruments, in addition to a familiarity with personal computers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, ie., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Lotus Notes, Teams and other software
- Knowledge of testing equipment found in laboratory setting, ie., GCs, HPLC, FTIRS, Viscometers
- Well-developed analytical methodology and problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of SPC
- Detail oriented with the ability to record and report pertinent data
- On occasion, must be able to lift up to a maximum of 30 lbs.
- Must be able to follow both written procedures and verbal instructions
- Must be able to follow all applicable safety procedures including correct personal protective equipment.
- Must have good interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment and interact with management and employees within the organization
- Ability to review and edit procedures in Webtop / Documentum.
- SAP & IQS Skill Proficiency to perform Principal Job Functions.
- Lean-Sigma knowledge to lead 5S or Yellow Belt Projects.
Preferred Skills
- 2+ years experience in a lab position of increasing responsibility
- Experience working in an ISO or GMP compliance driven lab environment
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment on a rotating shift
- Experience with emulsion polymerization products, laboratory testing and practices
