QA/Dev Ops Specialist

Overview

We are looking for a smart adaptable engineer to join our small, but talented, team. We develop in leading-edge technologies and believe in agile development. We use a Windows environment to host Nomad so IIS, MS SQL, and Windows Server experience are must. Our environment is hosted at a leading private cloud environment, so this role has no hardware management requirements. This position will give you a lot of freedom to manage our production system to your own high standards, and to grow your career at our company as we take off.

Day to Day

As a Quality Assurance professional, your daily responsibilities will revolve around taking charge of our production environment. You will be responsible for managing its operation and overseeing all deployments. This includes conducting thorough testing of our releases to ensure top-notch quality. A significant part of your role involves developing and improving our automated tests, as well as refining our operational tools and scripts.

You will be the first line of response to any production issues, showcasing your troubleshooting skills and independently resolving issues whenever possible. However, you'll also be adept at recognizing when to collaborate and consult with relevant team members.

In essence, your day-to-day tasks will involve a combination of hands-on testing, collaborative problem-solving, and continuous improvement of our testing processes and tools.

Primary Duties

• Manual testing of the application.
• Utilize our ticketing system with our development team to track issues and changes.
• Develop custom SQL scripts for our team as requested.
• Package and test builds for deployment.
• Create and manage release notes for our team.
• Handle any alerts from the production system.
• Use monitoring to tune our application in production.
• Collaborate with and tolerate non-technical team members with regular troubleshooting.

Experience

• Extensive experience programming shell scripts and at least one other major scripting language.
• Test automation, acceptance testing, load testing, and creating test scripts.
• Monitoring system health & analyzing log files.
• Good knowledge of version control systems (Github), software build tools like TeamCity.
