ABOUT THE ROLE

Amsted Automotive Group, Propulsion Systems, Saginaw-MI, is seeking a Quality Technician who will be responsible for all phases of inspection (Receiving inspection & CMM inspections), reject evaluations, risk assessment, containment and escalation reporting. The Quality technician ensures conformance to blueprint as appropriate, customer specific and internal procedure requirements for all products, and processes. This is a 2nd shift or split shift opportunity.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Perform receiving inspection, in process and final audit inspection as directed.
  • Record attribute and variable data on in process inspection record according to parts-specific dynamic control plans.
  • Verify that procedures are being followed and inspections performed by operators.
  • Responsible for supporting the team efforts of assembly lines as related to work instructions, teardowns and regress, etc.
  • Perform evaluation and disposition which may require tagging parts and dunnage properly for storage in work in process areas, material review board area or for shipment to the customer.
  • Responsible for notifying production if non-conforming material is detected, suspect material is to be identified and isolated. Assist in identification of “Dirty Point” & “Clean Point”.
  • Communicate findings, regarding trends of rejects or nonconforming parts and processes to appropriate personnel. Participate in corrective action process.
  • Perform first piece and in-process inspections, daily audits and log in process inspection record, as applicable, including contamination testing, as applicable.
  • Generate reports of nonconforming material or product(s).
  • Identify nonconforming material and quarantine.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and problem-solving tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in Gage R&R’s and Part Capability Studies as assigned.
  • Identify trends using basic statistical process control techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Communicates to next shift personnel where applicable.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Some college or manufacturing technical trade-school course work preferred.
  • All inspection work requires proficient use of measuring equipment (scales, micrometers, calipers) and checking fixtures, and metrology tools (surface testers, CMM’s).
  • Must be computer literate and have working knowledge of other workplace machinery, SAP handheld scanners, calculators and printers.
  • Must be able to read blueprints as appropriate or have capacity to learn GD&T.
  • Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 Compliance Criteria.
