TransCore (TRN), a subsidiary of ST Engineering, is seeking a full-time Quality Assurance Specialist I to join our team in Houston, Texas.
Job Summary: The QA Specialist I will perform one or more quality related functions within the company’s quality program, such as internal auditing, statistician, inspector or testing and calibration expert. Performs basic quality techniques, possibly including calibration, track, analyze and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Product and mechanical inspection
- Internal auditing
- Workmanship and solder training
- Data collection and other clerical assignments
- Calibration of equipment
- Metric reporting
Education: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
Required Skills & Experience:
- Typically requires a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience.
- Microsoft Windows 7/10: Intermediate skills with Windows is required. File and Folder management, navigation of file structures, etc.
- Microsoft Office: Intermediate Skills of Office 2013 or later required with emphasis on MS Excel.
- Excel skills: Intermediate+ proficiency with spreadsheet management, calculations & formulas. More complex operational knowledge is a plus.
- Statistical software: Advanced skills with Minitab.
- Task Management: Ability to manage tasks in an efficient manner, utilization of software-based task management tools.
- Attention to Detail: An extreme attention to detail is required. Ability to pay attention to various pieces of information simultaneously and determine accuracy.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to think through complex scenarios during auditing to ensure a full understanding of situational anomalies.
- Self-driven and fast learner: Motivation to learn new tasks, tools, processes and can learn quickly.
- Problem solving: Creative problem solving is a plus.
Supervision: Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.
Experience: Typically requires a minimum of 1 - 2 years of related experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
