QA Microbiology

The QA Microbiology Technician maintains and coordinates the Microbiology and Environmental Program in the manufacturing facility, handling deviations, corrective, and preventive actions, as well as keeping a close communication and information flow with all teams in the manufacturing facility, corporate team in Mexico, and the external laboratory that performs the analyses. Additionally, this position is also responsible for ingredients and packaging materials receiving analyses, and nonconforming material handling.

Responsibilities: 

• Sample collection, preparation, registration, and shipment to external laboratory for microbiology testing.
• Microbiology results review and follow-up.
• External laboratory services request – ingredients, in-process, and finished product testing, as needed.
• Ingredients and packaging materials receiving analysis.
• Review of QA Laboratory procedures, as needed.
• Nonconforming materials program (ingredients and packaging materials).
• Deviations and nonconformities investigation, and development of corrective and preventive action plans.
• Development of protocols, summaries and reports concerning sanitation verification and validation.
• Control of expendable materials supplies inventory, needed for sampling and testing.
• Systematic Supervision and quality control monitoring.
• QA Laboratory maintenance, which includes equipment, supplies, records, etc.
• Support the 5S program in the manufacturing facility, keeping working areas, utensils, and equipment clean and organized.
• Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Quality & Food Safety guidelines.
• Compliance with company safety rules and procedures including reports to the management team of any unsafe conditions.
• Support to all quality shifts, as needed.
• Any other duties assigned by the management.

• Associate degree or equivalent courses and work experience in Food Science.
• Knowledge of FDA regulations for Food Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP Principles.
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Windows environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally and effectively with others as well as being able to receive feedback from others.
• Problem solving skills.
• Time management and teamwork skills.
• High level of integrity.
• Good knowledge of procedure implementation.
• Analytical thinking, meticulousness, and detail-oriented skills.

• Able to work on the weekends, as needed.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferably.
