POSITION DESCRIPTION


Department: Quality

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Report To: QA Supervisor


Position Summary:

Complete inspection processes and maintain and improve all Quality Systems: Provide Quality support to Manufacturing Operations by resolving quality-related issues, improving product quality, assisting with continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Inspector is accountable for ensuring compliance to procedures and product specification requirements within the quality management system. This position requires that work be performed in warehouse, office, and controlled environment areas

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect incoming materials for compliance with design and regulatory requirements
  • Comply with all quality system requirements as outlined in the quality manual, procedures, and work instructions
  • Maintain control of and ensure proper filing of all pertinent documents, data, and inspection records.
  • Self-starter, ability to be assigned a task and complete the task with minimal supervision under designated lead times.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally, in English, the needs of the QA Department both internally and with our vendors.
  • Ability to read and interpret design data, ANSI Y14.5, GD&T, and specifications of product.
  • Perform in-process inspections. Ensure operators, machinists, deburring personnel check their own work properly.
  • Review supplier data and certificate of conformance packages for compliance to design data and quality system requirements.
  • Communicate with shop personnel, as necessary, any identified issues with product or documentation
  • Working knowledge of equipment such as, calipers, micrometers (ID and OD), height gages, threaded fastener equipment, bore gages, surface plate air gages, hardness tester, optical comparator, surface finish indicators, and any additional tools used in the Quality Assurance Department.
  • Ability to operate and program CMM equipment experience a plus.
  • Conduct maintenance and calibration of all measurement and test equipment in the Quality Assurance Department. (N.I.S.T)
  • Use of MS Office such as; Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • ERP Operation system experience a plus.
  • Ability to work office machines, such as: faxes, copy machines and telephones.
  • Keep work area neat and orderly.
  • Because of the fluctuating demands of Superior's operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.
  • Compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • 3-5 years machine shop quality/inspection experience is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
