Job description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Engineer-Metrology is responsible for developing and implementing quality control and calibration procedures in an MR&O and MFG environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure compliance to customer, ISO/AS9110 and AS9100, FAA regulatory requirements are met.
  • Conduct product, process, or RCCA investigations and provide technical assistance of resolutions.
  • Conduct internal & external audits and provide objective evidence of compliance.
  • Review technical requirements and approve purchase orders to ensure technical requirements are flowed down.
  • Write and revise quality procedures as necessary.
  • Assist Quality Manager with developing and implementing quality programs, including tracking, analyzing and reporting KPI's.
  • Write and follow up on internal and external corrective actions for root cause analysis.
  • Analyze, identify, and implement manufacturing and/or business process improvements.
  • Provide support in the way of development and evaluation of process capability, process control plans, analysis of out-of- control conditions, and process audits.
  • Assist in establishing technical advice & maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement to cross-functional teams.
  • Works independently to calibrate, verify, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot various M&TE and production equipment. Know and follow safety instructions for various areas.
  • Schedule and perform calibration of equipment. Compile data and ensure all calibration documentation is maintained into the system per established quality and internal procedures.
  • Maintains laboratory equipment in good working condition by monitoring condition and coordinating necessary repairs.
  • Continuously look for improvements to the processes and procedures for calibration of M&TE and production equipment.
  • Coordinates with maintenance on equipment repairs as well as planned modifications or upgrades necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Review and accept certification results from vendors performing in-house duties. Coordinate delivery and pick up of M&TE and laboratory equipment to vendors. Review, update and maintain documentation into the system per established quality and internal procedures.
  • Support qualifications of new equipment including coordinating time frames and necessary items to ensure compliance to specifications.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
  • Minimum 2 years of quality, manufacturing, calibration, metrology, or relevant engineering experience required.

 QUALIFICATONS:  

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of gauges used in the assembly, surface treatments, stripping, blasting, machining, grinding, shot peening, heat treatments, blending, bonding and NDT as it relates to component repair & overhaul.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make critical decisions and problem solve.
