Job Description

Job Summary

The Chief Inspector is responsible for the overall operation and management of the Inspection staff and has final authority in approval for return to service of any article for which the station is rated. In addition, the Chief Inspector is responsible for directing, planning, and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures used by the repair station in complying with all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's specification and/or recommendations. The Chief Inspector is also responsible for leading the Company in continuous improvement of the Quality Management System. Duties & Responsibilities

+ INSPECTION

-Makes final decisions on all airworthiness matters and will be the primary contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Flight Standards District Office (FSDO), assigned Principle Maintenance Inspector (PMI), and all customer quality issues

-Ensures that all services provided are in accordance with the approved Repair Station Manual (RSM), AS9110 Quality System Manual (QSM), Repair Station Ratings, applicable parts of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), and current company Policies and Procedures

-Ensures that all Quality Documents are prepared in accordance with RSM/QSM and have assigned Work Order numbers

-Ensures that the FAA approved Training Program is followed, and all personnel training records are kept current

-Manage FAA Audits for the Company as they relate to the Technical Services functions. Oversee corrective action from audit and response process

-Ensure that Quality records of inspections and tests are maintained

-Submit reports of defects or un-airworthy condition in accordance with FAR 145.63

-Assure the proper execution of FAA Form 337 when required and/or a maintenance release

-Conduct periodic checks on all inspection tools and the calibration of precision test equipment used by the repair station and mechanics that have their own precision equipment, and ensures that the required calibrations occur per manufacturer's requirements and Company policies

-Responsible for the Preliminary, Hidden Damage, Non-Destructive Testing, Inspection Continuity, and Final Inspection, of all items processed by this Certified Repair Station, as required by this manual and the 14 CFR Part 145

-Duties, but not the responsibilities, of the Chief Inspector may be delegated to a qualified person in their absence

+ CUSTOMERS

- Develops positive, professional long-term relationship with customers by assisting with special needs and requests

- Addresses customer questions and concerns about services

- Assists Management in resolving customer complaints and problems as they relate to inspections

- Ensures delivery of agreed upon customer services

+ MANAGEMENT

- Assists, supervises and directs all personnel in the Inspection department

- Enforces Safety practices, policies and procedures amongst Department employees

- Listens and communicates with employees about questions, concerns, comments and suggestions

- Implements Department policies and procedures; enforces Company policies, both operationally and with regard to personnel issues

-Completes and conducts employee evaluations

-Assists Human Resources Department with the recruiting functions for the Inspection Department

-Assists in disciplining employees up to and including termination

-Provides employee recognition and motivation

-Develops and approves crew schedule requests including time off, vacation and overtime

-Pre-approves all overtime prior to being worked

-Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Job Requirements

+ Minimum of ten (10) years' experience working in similar FBO/Airline operation

+ Minimum of five (5) years' experience supervising/mentoring a staff of ten or more

+ Ability to mentor and build a team

+ Strong knowledge of aviation

+ Excellent proficiency with MS Office including the ability to create spreadsheets, project schedules, proposals and customer letters, and reports

+ Working knowledge of 14 CFR Parts as applicable to certificate held

+ Experience with AS9100 or AS9110

+ Experience serving in roles that have required him/her to represent the organization at senior levels and with a variety of internal and external constituent groups

+ Bachelor's Degree preferred

+ Airframe and Powerplant Certifications required

+ IA certification required

Other prerequisites

+ Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

+ Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge

+ Valid Driver's License

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

+ Work is performed in an office environment with moderate noise level; frequently subject to fieldwork. Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screen. Requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time, up to 8 hours and ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
