Job Description: Principal Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will operate as a member of the Corporate Engineering unit, PWB CAD department, and will be able to design and document printed wiring board layouts that conform to manufacturing and industry standards and *** design guidelines. Working in close coordination with electrical and mechanical design teams from supplied schematics and electrical and mechanical design constraints to develop PWB layouts that meet all project goals and requirements for a variety of new 5G designs across multiple business units (R&D, Mobile, Compute, IOT, Infrastructure, Automotive, Test Equipment).
The responsibilities of this role include:
Learn and develop expertise with the CAD software tools utilized at ***:
o Siemens/Mentor Graphics Xpedition - To design complex PWBs.
o Siemens Valor - To analyze and check that all DFM (Design for Manufacture) requirements are met to ensure high quality in the design data packages (Gerber/ODB++) used for PWB fabrication.
o Downstream Technologies Blueprint - To create and release documentation for PWB Fabrication and Assembly drawings.
Effectively communicate with project peers and engineering personnel via e-mail, Teams meetings, including regular status reports and illustrative presentation slides.
Understand project goals and individual contribution toward those goals.
Ability to evaluate PWB design trade-offs necessary to meet design requirements and produce high quality cost effective PWBs that meet project schedule objectives.
Understand the requirements driving PWB technology and process trends and their application to *** designs.
Maintain technical coordination with Engineering and Manufacturing. Resolve PWB design issues with fabrication and assembly vendors.
Minimum Qualifications
1+ years experience using CAD software tools to design PWBs for electronics packaging.
Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical constraint drawings.
Experience with electronic file exchanges between PWB and Mechanical software tools.
Basic understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and work experience with:
o CAD Tools used to design PWBs.
o Basic understanding of electronic components and digital and analog circuit along with component placement and routing strategies.
o Basic understanding of PWB design practices and industry standards.
o PWB stack-up development and controlled impedance requirements.
o PWB stack-up via technology types, such as Thru-hole, Blind, Buried and micro via.
o Power distribution in digital and analog designs.
o Power and signal integrity design practices and analysis.
o PWB fabrication and assembly process, capabilities, and limitations.
Education
Associates Degree in a Technical Field, Electronics preferred
Comments for Suppliers: Hybrid - Onsite 2 days/week. Must be local
Goal is to convert within 6-12 months
