Job Summary:

As a renowned leader in jet engines, Pratt & Whitney continually strives to maintain a world class safety record. The Operational Commercial Engines (OCE) Safety Team, part of Engineering Product Integrity (EPI), is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead the assessment and management of flight safety related issues for the PW1100G-JM program. This role offers an opportunity to perform diverse and impactful work for one of the fastest growing commercial fleets. This position is a good fit for an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys or is seeking exposure to a variety of topics spanning all engine hardware/modules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Program Chief Engineers (PCEs) to facilitate successful safety issue management process execution.
  • Generate and presenting Program Safety updates and metrics to Program Leadership
  • Run Internal Safety Reviews for the program.
  • Support Safety Board presentations on PW1100G-JM topics
  • Manage safety issue progression in PW’s tracking databases.
  • Support partner, customer, and regulator meetings regarding safety topics
  • Host or participate in risk assessment meetings and assumptions reviews.
  • Maintain the program specific knowledgebase for Safety Risk Analyses including fleet assumptions and key points of contact.
  • Coordinate with technical experts across P&W to support development of qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
  • Understand, execute, and advocate for the PW Safety Issue Management (SIM) process.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 8+ years of experience with aircraft turbine engine operation, design, or maintenance or 5+ years experience with an advanced degree
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities within a CIPT, as an integrator, or within another team-oriented role
  • Experience working with internal and external customers such as PCEs, Program Management, airframers, partners, or regulators.
  • Strong analytical background including familiarity with engine hardware and systems.
  • Effective listening and communication skills including experience presenting to broad audiences.
  • Strong technical writing skills including experience generating material for various audiences/customers.
  • Familiarity with aspects of the PW Safety processes.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. This means that responsibilities of the job need to be performed onsite on a regular basis.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
