What You Can Expect
Our Senior Photovoltaic (PV) Technician will be located in Massachusetts, and will be travelling regularly through a growing service area that currently covers sites in Cape Cod, Lanesborough, and Worcester, MA. The Sr. PV Technician will be responsible for safely performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of a large number of small solar projects. Currently the largest site is about 5 Megawatts (MW) and is located on Cape Cod. This Sr. Technician will be supporting this and other Client Sites typically located in Massachusetts, but will also take you throughout the Northeastern U.S. completing planned preventative maintenance cycles and other maintenance as needed.
Every day, you’ll prioritize safety in everything that you do. You will be traveling to client sites, frequently to Cape Cod, MA, safely driving your company provided truck. Servicing both ground arrays (up to 5 MW) owned by municipalities or corporations and smaller rooftop systems at some of your most recognizable corporations. Typical tasks are cleaning and testing panels, troubleshooting inverters, servicing or updating networking / SCADA hardware/ software. You will be discussing service and upgrade options with the Regional Service Manager, and clients in the field, both on the phone and by completing detailed service reports explaining findings, actions taken and recommendations for future maintenance and upgrades.
Respond to trouble tickets in a reasonable timely fashion
Develop work scopes for service work orders on repairs issues that require subcontracted assistance
Perform scheduled annual preventative maintenance services for PV systems
Review annual preventative maintenance service reports to identify issues that require follow up corrective action. Provide feedback to the Regional Service Manager and plan the corrective action for scope of work
Timely maintain detailed expense records for all service calls including parts costs, tools, mileage, and timekeeping utilizing company provided software tools
What You’ll Bring
This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
This role requires a minimum of five years of experience
Where you will have learned to abide by and understand the safety requirements of the NEC electrical code, NFPA70 and OSHA 30
You will have developed expertise in PV design, installation, and/or maintenance
You will have developed expertise in troubleshooting PV systems starting with the review of the PV System performance reports and then troubleshooting the underperformance issues as well as outages by troubleshooting arrays, inverters, and networking systems to the root cause
You will have gained experience with applying technical requirements to commissioning, troubleshooting of solar electrical generation systems, and monitoring communication equipment
You will have gained experience in being collaborative and communicative with peers, management and clients to receive and complete daily tasks and provide well developed and descriptive advice and updates on services rendered or additional services or equipment needed to complete assigned work
You will have experience in complying with contract terms as stated by an O&M and/or Performance Guarantee contract. Specifically pertaining to the maintenance to be performed on customer sites with respect to customer safety requirements, such as site access terms and conditions
Additional Details
This is a field position requiring regular travel to client site(s)
Must be available to travel domestically up to 90% of the time with the need of up to 50% overnight stays
Must possess a valid state issued driver’s license/clean driving record, as this role requires safe operation of a company vehicle
Must be willing and able to comply with ENGIE’s policy with respect to COVID vaccination and testing
Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
Ability to communicate and give report effectively, on highly technical information both written (Word / Outlook) and verbally
The position consists of 100% work outdoors; outdoor work may expose the employee to weather conditions
Could involve some lifting / up to 50lbs
Compensation
Salary Range: $40.39 - $61.92 USD hourly
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
