Job description

We are working with a well-established (77+ years), growing, and leading player in the textile industry that delivers high-quality textile products to a global market. Due to growth, the company is looking for a Purchasing Manager to be based in their northern Ohio facility. The position will have supervision responsibilities of 2+ Procurement professionals and will report to the COO.

The company is offering a competitive base salary, bonus (paid quarterly), 38-hour work week, full benefits (including 401K match, HSA allowance, tuition assistance, PTO, etc.). Relocation assistance will be provided for the ideal candidate.

As the Purchasing Manager, you will ensure that we procure materials, supplies, equipment, and services on time and at the highest value. You will be the point person to research and work with vendors, making sure that critical items remain in stock. Our ideal candidate is a savvy and determined negotiator with a proven track record of successful leadership. You will be responsible for optimizing the end-to-end supply chain processes within our textile converting, manufacturing and distribution operations. You will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient production, inventory management, and timely delivery of our products while maintaining the highest standards of quality and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supply Chain Planning:
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to develop and implement strategic supply chain plans to meet production demands and customer requirements
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to forecast demand and align product needs and schedules accordingly
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to secure timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to ensure favorable agreements
  • Actively engage current and new potential suppliers and schedule visits with them to meet with you and the sourcing team in our OH offices
  • Prepares complex reports and analyses by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Monitors and evaluates supplier’s ability to meet all company and government or commercial procurement requirements and ensure that the pertinent technical and quality issues receive adequate attention in order to assure compliance
  • Keeping the company informed of supplier capabilities on new products, common items, new equipment, etc.
  • Implement inventory control strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs
  • Work closely with Operations Manager to conduct regular assessments to identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and take corrective actions
  • Work with Sales and Marketing Teams to review product trends and determine inventory positions on said items
  • Coordinate the efficient transportation of goods from production facilities to our OH distribution center and customers
  • Work with international customs brokers to ensure proper importation of products without issue
  • Collaborate with the Quality Control Manager to ensure adherence to product quality standards throughout the supply chain
  • Implement measures to address quality issues and prevent reoccurrence
  • Monitors and evaluates supplier performance. Resolves discrepancies by mediating supplier/manufacturing issues. Facilitates conferences between suppliers and company personnel to resolve disputes
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance supply chain efficiency, in accordance with ISO 9001:2015
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements to drive innovation in supply chain processes
  • Applies continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems. Develops, coordinates, and implements improvement initiatives with key suppliers. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain
  • Monitor external factors such as market trends, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes that may impact the supply chain

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in purchasing/procurement management within the textile industry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain processes, logistics, and inventory management
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and supply chain software. Knowledge of Jomar ERP a plus
