Job Description
Responsibilities:
Manage team of 35 purchasers distributed across multiple offices
Oversee all aspects of procurement, including supplier selection, negotiation, contract
management, and ongoing performance evaluation
Lead and manage the implementation of an ERP system, providing support and training to team
members as needed
Establish and oversee all purchasing policies, procedures, and activities so that the parts,
materials, supplies, and services we buy meet standards of price, quality, timing, and
consistency of supply
Manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained to meet customer
demands while minimizing carrying costs and obsolescence risks
Define and implement purchasing department processes, methods, and activities to assure the
most effective use of resources
Develop, track, and publish supplier surveys and scorecards to ensure parts and materials are
consistently delivered on time and meet our quality standards
Foster a positive work environment and provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the
purchasing and material handling teams
Qualifications:
10+ years of relevant experience in Procurement or Supply Chain Management with
demonstrated leadership responsibilities, preferably in manufacturing environments
Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or equivalent work
experience
Broad vendor relationships across the greater Portland and/or Houston areas including
manufacturing parts, materials and steel suppliers
Experience managing other purchasers across multiple different remote offices
Experience with ERP/MRP software, purchasing and resource planning systems (e.g. Infor
VISUAL, QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite)
Experience with business financial and quoting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
Experience anticipating and monitoring global supply chain issues (e.g. FreightWaves,
Purchasing Managers' Index)
Knowledge of steel machining, special coating and other manufacturing processes
Intimate knowledge of steel commodity pricing (e.g. raw carbon steel grades, steel pricing index,
laser cutting, powder coating)
Mastery of Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions and maintain complex spreadsheets)
Willing to share and receive important criticism and direction directly, openly and honestly
APICS or CIPS certification is a plus
