POSITION SUMMARY:
The Purchasing clerk is responsible for reviewing and approving purchases, maintaining records of purchases, and expediting part shortage resolutions, as well as maintaining the warehouse and warehouse inventory.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and approve stock purchase requests and non-stock purchase requests.
- Maintain records of purchases for financial and auditing purposes.
- Communicate with manufacturing managers and vendors to expedite part shortage issues.
- Resolve accounting invoice issues by change order, contacting vendor for credit, or approving overage costs.
- Perform vendor comparisons to reduce purchasing costs.
- Maintain communication with carriers, forwarders, and other necessary parties to ensure accurate international shipments.
- Process reports in ERP software to determine shortages.
- Process freight claims, insurance reports, and proof of deliveries.
- Perform warehouse cycle counts and submit discrepancies with improvement plan.
- Maintain an accurate inventory count.
- Efficiently coordinate shipping schedules to meet customer requirements and maximize customer service.
- Accurately pull, pick, and pack customers orders.
- Receive shipments and purchase orders.
- Maintain the warehouse in a clean and organized manner.
- Assist the planner and manufacturing shop as needed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma required. AA degree in business, supply chain, or finance preferred.
- One to three years of experience in purchasing
- One to three years of experience in Shipping and Receiving
- One to three years of experience in Powered Industrial Truck Operation
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Power-Point) and other office equipment.
- JD Edwards or Oracle experience a plus
- Good organizational and prioritization skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of using a personal computer and other office equipment.
- Capable of standing and walking for entire shift.
- Capable of climbing, bending, squatting, and reaching above shoulder height.
- Capable of working in a non-climate controlled environment.
