PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to serve our members, customers and co-workers.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for editing content for ACHE publications, while also managing the production process of select ACHE publications.
ACHE is a hybrid work environment, requiring 2 days per week in our Chicago loop office.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- ACHe-News 50% of Time
- Responsible for leading and coordinating editorial content and production of ACHe-news, the association’s weekly email newsletter to members, including the generation of an annual editorial calendar.
- Leads efforts to regularly review ACHe-news content for relevancy and identify areas for improvement.
- Healthcare Executive Magazine Activities 30% of Time
- Plans and edits two to three columns, plans and writes feature stories as assigned and proofreads publication.
- Coordinates and edits other copy associated with the magazine as assigned.
- Chief Executive Officer 15%
- Responsible for coordinating editorial content and production of quarterly newsletter, including the generation of an annual editorial calendar and overseeing freelancers.
- Leads efforts to regularly review content for relevancy and identify areas for improvement.
- Congress on Healthcare Leadership 5% of Time
- Writes and edits speaker scripts and other items as assigned.
- Works on site to assist with event coordination, including making script changes and other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Baccalaureate degree in English, journalism or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years’ writing/editing experience.
- Magazine experience preferred.
- Proficiency in AP style.
- Project management/planning skills.
- Knowledge of the healthcare field preferred.
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Must work well under pressure/deadline.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to use word processing software (Microsoft Word).
- Must have strong customer service orientation.
- Must have strong team orientation.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
