Job description

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Public Service Supervisor to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC), which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities. This is a full-time position with a Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. schedule and opportunity for growth, development, and advancement.
Employees are eligible for a $1,500 retention payment for a commitment of 7 pay periods (14 weeks) and are eligible for renewal at the end of each 7 pay periods until the facility closes. Speak to the hiring manager for more information on eligibility.
The Public Service Supervisor (PSS) leads, oversees, and monitors the day-to-day operations of the Domestic Services and Transportation departments. Actions associated with this position include training, mentoring, and evaluating lead workers and staff to ensure productivity and effectiveness, researching and communicating laws and regulations, developing operational goals, and purchasing tools, materials, equipment, furniture, and miscellaneous supplies. This position regularly confers with the Director of Environmental Services to establish facility maintenance priorities and designate projects for Major Maintenance and Capital funding consideration. As part of these processes, the PSS ensures compliance to regulatory requirements, coordinates with outside vendors, and works with other State departments.
The PSS directs services provided by multiple trades and facilitates work and service requests to ensure that they are scheduled and completed in a timely manner. This includes determining and coordinating work generated from all of GRC including multiple agencies leasing properties on the campus. This position meets with facility directors, managers, supervisors, and support staff to discuss current work scheduled, project status, and potential future projects in order to make the best possible use of resources. The PSS frequently rearranges work schedules to accommodate additional work projects, and constantly evaluates facility priorities as well as human and material resource allotment.
Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, gives in-home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.

c. A total of three years of education and full-time experience (as described in part b), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience. Graduation from the Iowa Certified Public Manager Program is also equivalent to one year of full-time experience or education.
