PR SPECIALIST
OVERVIEW
The Public Relations Specialist will assist in creating and executing PR campaigns, collaborate with other departments to enhance the Center’s voice and presence and support senior Center leadership for press and speaking engagements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
- Assist the Senior Director of Public and Media Relations in formulating PR plans and strategies.
- Draft, publish, and pitch press releases, pitches, and media summaries.
- Work with the marketing and communications team to enhance the Center’s voice and presence through online and offline channels, including community messaging boards, case studies, and white papers.
- Help manage media relations and requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the social media team.
- Support internal and external events as needed.
- Support the implementation of promotional plans.
- Enforce brand standards.
- Maintain crisis communication plans and assist in presenting solutions in times of PR crisis.
- Provide press training for senior leaders and collaborate with the administration team to schedule press interviews.
- Collaborate with administration and executive communications teams on content for speaking engagements and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, PUBLIC RELATIONS, marketing, or related field
Preferred Experience
- Experience in copywriting and editing.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (X, Facebook etc.).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for extensive periods of time (6-8 hours) behind a desk.
- Walking, climbing (stairs) to other departments.
- Lifting and/or carrying up to 30 pounds to waist height.
- Bending, reaching, and/or kneeling to store/retrieve supplies.
- Wrist movements, seeing, and reading to operate computer terminal, office equipment, and handling various documents.
- Talking and hearing to assist customers, officials, guests, and employees.
- This position deals extensively with employees at all levels of the organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency with PR tools like Cision, Meltwater, etc.
- Working knowledge of MS Office; photo and video-editing software is preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Aptitude in presentation and public speaking.
- Proficiency in English.
- A creative yet practical mind.
- Excellent organization skills and follow-through.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and comfort with aggressive deadlines and fluid priorities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively and share information within a team, across organizational boundaries, and with all levels of management.
- Excellent attention to detail.

- This position involves working in a climate-controlled, multiple-person, office environment.
