JOB SUMMARY
Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing and implementing our external media strategies. In conjunction with the Senior Director of Communication, the Public Relations Manager will lead media relations and PR activities across the firm and help elevate the reputation of key partners, industries, and practices with external audiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
- Develop Public Relations strategies, campaigns, and initiatives to improve brand awareness and enhance client engagement.
- This position partners with leadership and the communications, business development, and events teams to successfully implement programs that raise the visibility of targeted industry and practice groups.
- Coordinate all Public Relations activities, including press releases, interviews, media campaigns, and thought leadership opportunities to raise the firm’s profile.
- Help manage the relationship with the firm’s outside Public Relations agency.
- Help draft and edit press releases, announcements, new work summaries, and other marketing material pertaining to Public Relations.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, industry professionals, and stakeholders.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on PR campaigns and their impact.
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. Content, Design, Social Media) and maintain open communication with the department’s senior management.
- Manage directory and survey responses across the firm, and support targeted awards nominations.
- Develop media training programs and coaching for attorneys.
- Help respond to crisis management issues and advise on strategies to mitigate potential Public Relations issues.

- Ability to work extended and/or weekend hours, as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong project management and interpersonal skills.
- Sound business judgment, excellent attention to detail, and ability to execute through to completion.
- Strong relationships with media outlets in our space and a deep understanding of the PR function at law firms.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and social media.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a creative approach.
- Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
- Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, work well under pressure, and coordinate sophisticated communications programs with good results
- Highly motivated, persuasive, priority-driven, and collaborative.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Critical and analytical thinker with strong research capabilities.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field required.
Experience:
- 5+ years of applicable experience in the legal field or a related industry required.
