ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Research, write, and coordinate distribution of MOA media materials including press releases and media advisories.
- Pitch events and stories to the media and foster relationships with local media including reporters, producers, and editors.
- Assist efforts to gain media stories/placement for new and coming tenants/attractions and restaurants.
- Manage the media monitoring service; document, summarize and distribute reports and recaps for MOA special events, holidays, and year-end.
- Assist in implementing day to day media requests, photo requests, and coordinating live media coverage at MOA.
- Function as part of the crisis communication team.
- Manage photo and video archives.
- Work with various production crews filming onsite at Mall of America.
- Regular, reliable, and consistent attendance.
- Additional duties as assigned.
PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- BA degree in communications, journalism or other related field
- 1-2 yrs experience in media relations or journalism
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledgeable in working with news media pitching stories
- Knowledgeable in producing press releases, and related media materials
- High level of creativity, initiative and flexibility
- Knowledge of computer and word processing applications
