POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for writing of media releases, scheduling of community events, and management of Sheriff’s Office social media outlets.
MAJOR DUTIES:
· Creating engaging content for media releases, social media platforms, and newsletters.
· Responsible for updating the Sheriff’s Office social media pages.
· Responsible for scheduling, attending, and organizing of events.
· Giving input of marketing initiatives and suggesting creative ways to improve the Sheriff’s Office’s public image.
· Monitoring of media coverage on events and media releases that were issued and creating press clippings.
· Updating media lists.
· Performing administrative duties.
· Performing other duties as assigned by the Sheriff or Chief Deputy.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
· Knowledge and understanding of various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
· Knowledge and skills in Public Relations.
· Knowledge of and skills in Newsletter Design.
· Knowledge of and skills in Broadcasting.
· Knowledge of and skills in Graphic Design.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
· Knowledge of the geography of the county, including subdivisions, and road and street names.
· Skills in public and interpersonal relations.
· Skill in oral and written communications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work is typically performed in an office or outdoors where the employee will be exposed to seasonal weather as well as occasional inclement weather.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree and/or
· 3-5 years of experience in a related field
· Class I Certification- preferred but not required
