Professional work collaborating with community partners such as clinics, schools, and community service organizations to strengthen and expand relationships that promote the development, health, and nutrition of community members to improve childhood health outcomes.
Additional activities include providing individuals with resource information, education about programs and services that Public Health can assist with such as asthma, birth defects, child and teen checkups, early hearing and detection intervention, emergency response, Follow Along Program, lead, nutrition education, peer breast-feeding, perinatal Hepatitis B, vaccinations, and conduct appointments for families in the WIC program.
The salary range reflected above is the normal hiring range for 2024. The full salary range, including longevity pay, is $28.17 - $39.82 per hour.
This position is part of the Civil Service Basic Union Contract represented by Council 5 of AFSCME.

Distinguishing Features of Work
An employee in this class is responsible for assisting in the development, dissemination and evaluation of health education programs. Duties include assisting in identifying current trends affecting the health of a community, preparing Public Health data and information, promoting and conducting health education programs and services, and assisting in the local Public Health assessment and planning process. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

Selection Process
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in health education, Public Health, communications or a closely related field.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
