The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Department of Human Services (DHS) merged on July 1, 2022, to form one agency, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). We are seeking a Public Health Data Surveillance Section Supervisor (Public Service Manager 1).
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Public Health Data and Surveillance Section Supervisor. This is a fast paced role, responsible for coordinating the work of seven epidemiologists. This position is a key member of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS') Bureau of Health Statistics.
To be successful in this role requires an ability to partner closely with staff and leadership to coordinate all aspects of the program with HHS leadership, staff and key Public Health partners. Innovative thinking and project planning skills are critical in this role.
Duties include:
- Oversees and is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of programming and personnel preparedness and effectiveness in this section.
- Developing work plans, to include goals, objectives, and strategies, to meet the intended use of federal grant funding and support state and local Public Health needs.
- Advocates for the delivery of Public Health Data to various audiences in culturally appropriate and meaningful ways across Iowa HHS planning and performance.
- Making oral presentations to HHS leadership regarding program activities, outcomes, and successes.
- Preparing supporting justification for equipment, budget, and staffing to meet goals and annual objectives, and improve performance.
