The Challenge:

Critical decisions are made every single day in posturing our military forces for success on the battlefield. What if you could use your Department of Defense (DoD) experience and knowledge with public relations campaigns to assist those efforts?

As a Public Affairs Specialist with JCTM performing under the intent of the Vandegrift Team director, you must be able to independently lead staff actions in developing innovative solutions to complex problems where no formal guidance or procedures exist. You will develop and draft communications plans, talking points, and campaigns. You will be expected to utilize multiple methods and techniques in achieving communication key goals to include news release, public notices, social media ideas, leadership speeches, and digital and print outreach products. You will serve as a member of the Deputy Commandant's Vandegrift Team (VT) in support of the Naval Strategy Panel (NSP), providing technical subject matter expertise in Navy & Marine Corps organization force design, force development, and warfighting functions as well as a liaison and key linkage between the Deputy Commandant for Information (DCI), Vandegrift Team and OPNAV N7, Warfighter Development.

You Have:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 10+ years of experience as a DoD Public Affairs Officer (USMC experience preferred).
  • Excellent writing skills are crucial as position will design, write, and edit publications.
  • Knowledge of multiple methods and techniques in achieving communication goals key to include news release, public notices, social media ideas, leadership speeches, digital and print outreach products.
  • Experience with audio-visual content to include video, photos, and animation.
  • Working knowledge of USMC, HQMC, MARFORs, OPNAV, JS J39, MARFORPAC G39, PACOM J39.

Nice to Have:

  • Academic background in communications or marketing.
  • Experience and/or education relevant to the Indo-Pacific Command Area of Responsibility.
  • Experience and/or education relevant to Operations in the Information Environment.
  • Previous experience with US Strategy Command.
  • Familiarity with the operational impact of advanced technologies applied to friendly and adversary warfighting capabilities.
  • Broad range of service, joint, and interagency contacts.

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS//SCI clearance is required.
