Description
The Public Affairs Market Manager reports to the Head of Public Affairs and performs detail-oriented work for a variety of department operations and initiatives. The manager is responsible for improving the reputation of the bank by bolstering brand visibility, colleague engagement, cause marketing and creating positive connection to the community. The position requires an experienced, creative and energetic Public Affairs/communications/marketing professional with experience in charitable giving and/or grant making, colleague volunteerism and project management. The individual must be able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The chief function is to effectively leverage and execute bank charitable contributions, grant making, executive engagement, volunteerism and overall community outreach activities and project management in key markets across Citizens’ footprint.
Primary Responsibilities
- Improve the reputation of the bank by bolstering brand visibility through cause-related marketing, colleague engagement and creating positive connections to the community.
- Execute local charitable contributions activities aligning to Citizens’ workforce development and financial empowerment focus areas.
- Ensure proper administration of budgets, adherence to Citizens’ giving guidelines and SOPs and compliance with all policies and procedures of Citizens’ giving committees.
- Strict adherence to corporate risk and compliance guidelines and policies to ensure favorable audit results.
- Work with Head of Public Affairs to position senior leaders strategically in the market through thought leadership opportunities, civic and non-profit communities including board service and volunteerism.
- Utilize data-driven approach to make strategic, need-based philanthropic recommendations for the local market and utilize this data to educate key stakeholders.
- Regularly track and report metrics/measurement/results of charitable giving initiatives and demonstrate business impact.
- Ensure proper administration of budgets, adherence to Citizens’ giving guidelines and SOPs and compliance with all policies and procedures of Citizens’ giving committees.
- Increase visibility of bank’s charitable giving activities through content, media and social media recommendations.
- Liaise with internal business line partners to create and communicate consistent community messaging internally and externally.
- Manage and execute colleague engagement (volunteer) programs on a local level; identify local colleague volunteer opportunities including skills-based opportunities to populate the volunteer portal.
- Manage and execute department projects as assigned.
- Represent the bank in the community attending various external events and volunteer activities.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5-7 years of diverse charitable giving, grant making and/or corporate communications/marketing experience
- Experience developing strategic partnerships that drive brand favorability and consideration for the business using metrics and measurement to assess impact
- Exemplary writing, verbal, and problem-solving skills; must be able to effectively anticipate issues and problem solve when issues arise
- Project management experience.
- Strategic understanding of the nature of various initiatives and their impact on overall corporate objectives
- Ability to execute against strategy and drive results; demonstrated creative thinking
- Budget management experience
- Effective time management and organizational skills; solid work ethic
- Ability to effectively manage multiple, changing priorities
- Ability to plan, implement and manage all aspects of complex projects to successful completion
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Experience in banking/financial services is preferred
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite

- Bachelor’s Degree in related field

- Hours per Week: 40
- Work Schedule: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm (nights/weekends as required)
- Travel 15-20%
- Location: Westwood, MA, Johnston, RI or Providence, RI Hybrid 3 days in office 2 days remote
