Pt - Preop/Pacu Nurse - Ambulatory

Inova Loudoun Ambulatory Surgery Center (Lansdowne) is a full service ambulatory outpatient facility located on the campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital. We are licensed, Medicare certified and AAAHC accredited. We are seeking an experienced Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our team.

HOURS: Part Time, Monday through Friday, 3-8 hour shifts. Schedule varies between 0600-1430 and 0830-1700

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Pre-Op/PACU RN participates in pre-operative patient care, and post surgical phase one and two recovery care. Duties include:

• Performing patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patients’ age
• Taking vital signs, checking dressings and/or operative site, administering medications
• Reviewing diagnostics and laboratory data and reporting results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers
• Ensuring patient meets all discharge criteria
• Documenting assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record
• Discharging the patient either per wheelchair, assisting with ambulation, or other appropriate method based on patient condition
• Reviewing, educating, and providing a copy of the written discharge instructions to the patient and caregivers

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
• Current RN license in the state of Virginia, BLS certification
• Current ACLS/PALS certification, or must achieve within six (6) months of date of hire
• Minimum 1-2 years previous work experience in an ambulatory surgery setting or acute hospital recovery room. Must have 1st stage PACU experience.
