PART-TIME/SEASONAL AUDIO-VISUAL TECHNICIAN
Overview
The purpose of this position is to facilitate, maintain, and enhance the experience of Rocket Center guests and employees by ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Rocket Center's audio and visual equipment, theaters, and other spaces.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Systematically inspect, install, and repair all Rocket Center audio and visual equipment and systems to maintain effective and efficient operation, safety, and appearance. Equipment includes but is not limited to:
- Audio: Digital and analog sound consoles, amp racks, Microphone systems, Speakers
- Lighting: LED Lighting fixtures, Lighting controllers, DMX systems
- Video: Projectors, TVs, computers
- Operation of all audio and visual equipment for internal and external events.
- Ensure the accurate and timely completion of audio-visual technical requests.
- Report broken and defective parts and equipment to the Audio-Visual Technical Manager/Supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of the Audio-Visual Supervisor for the installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of audio and visual systems.
- Ensure the accurate and timely set-up, breakdown, and security of audio and visual equipment for USSRC programs and events.
- Meet or exceed the expectations of the Audio-Visual Manager/Supervisor for the accurate and timely completion of related tasks and assignments.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience
- Must have the knowledge and ability to use the tools, equipment, and materials of the profession effectively and safely.
- Knowledge of analog and digital sound consoles, DMX systems, video, and projection equipment, and how to operate audio-visual equipment.
- Must have excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with the public.
Preferred Education and Experience
- 12 – 24 months experience in operating, maintaining, and installing audio, video, and lighting equipment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements of the Position
This position has the following special requirements:
- Walking, climbing (stairs and ladders).
- Standing for long periods (4-6 hours) operating equipment.
- Pushing, carrying, and lifting equipment weighing up to 75 pounds to waist high.
- Bending, kneeling, and reaching to repair/replace audio-visual equipment.
- Sight, Reading, Wrist Movements, feeling to inspect and repair equipment, to operate tools of the field.
- Talking, and hearing to communicate with employees and guests regarding events.
- Comfortable working at heights of up to 60 feet.
