Job Summary
Under minimal supervision provides clinical leadership in provision of psychotherapeutic interventions and psychological assessment, as well as directing work flow and program development for psychological services for incarcerated men and women. Also provides clinical services as a Psychologist including group and individual psychotherapy, standardized psychological testing, case coordination and case management. Functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical leadership for and consultation services to other staff members. Provides supervision to psychology students as needed. Directs and manages the assigned correctional care psychologists, social workers, and case managers.
Essential Functions:

  • Supervise psychology practicum students (10%)
  • Manage licensed clinicians to include writing job descriptions, hiring, disciplining, terminating and completing performance evaluations. (10%)
  • Assign caseload to clinicians and coordinate work schedules. (10%)
  • Provide high quality psychological clinical services to individuals and families. (10%)
  • Provide services that are appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patient. (5%)
  • Assist other professionals in providing group therapy to address general clinical needs and to assist in maintaining the therapeutic milieu. (5%)
  • Generate documentation of therapeutic services in the medical record in a timely fashion. (5%)
  • Complete certification process with courts.Arrange and coordinate transfers to the psychiatric inpatient unit as needed. (5%)
  • Assess emergent behavioral health needs and direct appropriate action. (5%)
  • Actively participate in regular meetings with the multidisciplinary team. (5%)
  • Assist in developing behavior management plans on patients as requested. (5%)
  • Collaborate with specialty care and with uniformed staff. (5%)
  • Participate in academic efforts in research and professional writing. (5%)
  • Participate in staff training and program development. (5%)
  • Coordinate psychology research. (5%)
  • Clinical time will be 32 hours per week with 8 hours of administrative time. (5%)

Education:
  • Master's Degree Required

Work Experience:
  • 4-6 years Three to five years as a licensed Psychologist Required

Licenses:
  • PSY-Licensed Psychologist - State Board of Psychologist Examiners Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in incarcerated and in conducting evidence-based psychological assessment and intervention with adults complex comorbid psychiatric conditions.
  • Knowledge and experience needed to conduct supervision with advanced psychology trainees.
  • Possesses skills needed to participate effectively in a leadership role with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participates in teaching other professionals and participates as a faculty member with the psychology internship and training program.
  • Possesses advanced written and oral communication skills.
  • Has knowledge of effective psychological practice in correctional settings.
  • Possesses necessary skills to direct the unit psychological services and effectively manage other licensed professionals to include psychologists, psychotherapists, clinical social workers, and case managers.
  • Strong administrative and program development skills are required.
  • Possesses crisis intervention skills and able to consult with and coordinate hospital services (Psychiatric ED, Adult Inpatient unit, CL, ACUTE team) while at the correctional facilities and when offsite.
  • Knowledge and experience needed to coordinate psychology research efforts.
  • Computer skills required.
